Rising Stars: Inclusive Musical Theater Program
Rising Stars: Inclusive Musical Theater Program is designed for students in grades 6-12, including rising 6th graders. In our Rising Stars Program, you will develop the essential skills to perform musical theater. During our 2-week program from June 7-21, students will work with expert instructors to develop the physicality, the knowledge, and the tools to be a success as a musical theater performer. Students in grades 9-12 can choose between the Rising Stars Program and the VIMA Youth Voice Program.
As a Rising Stars participant, you will experience the following:
- Stage Makeup Classes
- Group Coachings
- Voice Masterclasses
- Movement Classes
- Dancing Basics Class
- Audition Technique / Slating
- Acting for Singers
- Character Development
- Basics in Music Reading & Ear Training
- Diction for Singers
- Ensemble Rehearsals
- Performing on the Rising Stars Recital
- Working with Maestro Buchalter from the Metropolitan Opera
- Work with professional singers on stage
- Perform in a fully staged production of A Grand Night for Singing by Rodgers & Hammerstein with orchestra at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC
- Perform in a fully staged production of A Grand Night for Singing by Rodgers & Hammerstein with orchestra at Ground Zero Theater in Myrtle Beach, SC

Application & Audition Requirements:
- Application
- Headshot or close-up photo
- Simple Performing Resumé (roles, ensembles, shows, choirs, solos, etc.)
- Video recording of a musical theater piece
- Recording can be with piano, a cappella, or with a track
- Recording must be within the past 6 months
- Make sure your face is visible
- Make sure you can be seen at least from the waist up
