Alex is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University's Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. On Broadway, he has played in the orchestras of Aladdin, Anastasia, Beetlejuice, Cats, Newsies, and White Christmas. Off-Broadway credits include Avenue Q, The Fantasticks, Naked Boys Singing, and NEWSical. National tours: Hairspray, Irving Berlin's I Love A Piano. Regional credits include numerous productions at Paper Mill Playhouse, Maine State Music Theatre, Northern Stage, Forestburgh Playhouse, and Bucks County Playhouse among others. An avid proponent of new musicals, Alex has music directed productions in both the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and New York Fringe Festival as well as at 54 Below, The York Theatre Company, Primary Stages, and Ars Nova. Prior to Coastal Carolina University, he has served on the faculties of The City University of New York: York College, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The New School for Drama, The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and CAP21. As a composer, his work was featured in the NEO 6 Concert at the York Theatre Company celebrating New, Emerging and Outstanding Musical Theatre Writers.
