Boyan Batchvarov studied with prof. Konstantin Ganev and prof. Julia Ganeva at the Sofia Conservatory of Music after graduating with honors from the High School in his native city. In 1993 he graduated with honors from Moscow Conservatory where he studied with prof. Mikhail Voskressensky. Mr. Batchvarov has received many awards including winning Third Prize at 14th International Piano Competition “Città di Senigallia” in Italy (1986), First Prize at 32nd International Competition “Maria Canals de Barcelona” (Piano Juniors) in Spain (1985), as well as many other awards at various national and international competitions. At present, Boyan teaches piano at the High School of Arts in Varna, Bulgaria and gives many recitals, takes part in chamber music concerts, and other concerts with orchestra. His professional interests stretch beyond piano repertoire; he plays also harpsichord and organ. In 1993 he recorded the 5th Brandenburg Concerto of J.S. Bach in Germany with the Brandenburg Chamber Orchestra, playing the harpsichord. Boyan also gives organ concerts, playing solo and with orchestra, with numerous appearances at the oldest music festival in Europe – “Varna Summer”.
