Evie Chen is on the faculty of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she teaches violin, coaches chamber music, and directs the UTK String Project. She is a passionate educator and is proud of her studio's commitment to artistry. Her teaching philosophy is centered on achieving freer musical expression through exploring multiple perspectives such as score analysis, technical and ergonomic maximization, and psychosomatic awareness. Evie is known for her versatility and strength as a performer. Her success has led to many solo, concerto, chamber, and orchestral engagements in the United States, some of which include world premieres dedicated to her. Most recently, she has given concerts in Durham, CT; Washington, D.C.; Houston, TX, and Bloomington, IN. In addition to Varna International Music Acdemy, her summer season includes performances at Bay View Music Festival and Kalmia Garden Music and Arts. Evie has earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music (BM), University of Rochester (BA), and Rice University (MM).
