Ian Silverman is thrilled to be directing this production of Little Women. Ian has extensive experience as a director of both opera and musicals. He has remounted Francesca Zambello’s Production of The Sound of Music on several occasions and has worked on productions of West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors among others. This season, Ian has directed productions at Opera Orlando, Toledo Opera, and San Antonio Opera and returned as an assistant director at Houston Grand Opera. Later this summer, Ian directs a new production of L’Itlaiana in Algeria with the Northern Lights Music Festival in Minnesota. Ian has served on the directing staffs of The Houston Grand Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, The Glimmerglass Festival, The Atlanta Opera, Palm Beach Opera, among others. He has also directed productions at Arizona Opera, Lakes Area Music Festival, Teatro Grattacielo, William Jewel College, Amarillo Opera, and Youngstown State University. Ian is a recipient of the Robin L. Tobin Director-Designer Prize from Opera America for his production concept of Fellow Travelers. Ian graduated from the Eastman School of Music with Master of Music Degree in Stage Directing and a Certificate in Arts Leadership.
