Kelly Langenberg Bayer

Kelly Langenberg Bayer is a classical musician and teacher, currently Assistant Professor of Horn and Music History at Troy University. Prior teaching appointments include Valdosta State University, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois-Chicago, DePaul University, and Illinois Wesleyan University. An active freelancer in the Chicago area and the southeast, Kelly’s “ferociously powerful” (ITG Journal, 2014) playing has been heard in orchestral and chamber music settings throughout the United States and abroad. Kelly is principal horn of the Albany Symphony (GA) and a member of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Additional orchestral experience includes the Jacksonville Symphony, Pensacola Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Wisconsin Philharmonic, the Dubuque, Peoria, Lake Forest, Elgin, Kalamazoo, Quad City, and Yucatan (Mexico) symphonies. As a chamber musician, Kelly is a member of the Alliance Brass Quintet and Alloy Horn Quartet and has performed at the Newport Classical Music Festival (RI) Italian Brass Week Festival (Florence, Italy), Wildflower Festival (PA), Chamber Music Festival of Aguascalientes (Mexico), and at the International Horn Symposium as a Featured Artist (2016). Outside of the classical music realm, Kelly has performed with several popular artists, including Doc Severinsen, Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Il Volo, and Celtic Women. An interest in artistic leadership led Kelly to pursue her cognate in higher ed administration as a doctoral student, and she holds a Certificate in Non Profit Management from University of IL at Chicago. Kelly is a Hans Hoyer USA Concert Artist and a Denis Wick Artist and Clinician.
