LUCA BARACCHINI
Stage Director
Born in Genoa in 1993, Luca combined his studies at the Conservatorio Paganini and the Accademia Ligustica in Genoa with his performing activity. As assistant director, he served in the main Italian theatres (Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro del Maggio in Florence, Opera di Roma, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Arena di Verona, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Rossini Opera Festival, OperaLombardia circuit) and international institutions (Mariinsky Theatre, Spoleto Festival USA, Auditorio de Tenerife).
He regularly collaborates with Andrea Cigni (Pia de' Tolomei, La Traviata, Tosca, Otello, Madama Butterfly, Nabucco, L'Orfeo, La fanciulla del West, Macbeth) and Andrea De Rosa (Simon Boccanegra, Goyescas, Suor Angelica, Lucia di Lammermoor, Attila, I puritani, Un ballo in maschera).
Among his first directing projects are La Traviata for VoceAll'opera (Milan, 2018), a reduction of Don Pasquale for children at the Teatro Carlo Felice (Genoa, 2018-2019); for the “Festa dell'Opera” event, organized by the Foundation of the Teatro Grande in Brescia, he staged Turandot in the foyer of the Teatro Grande (2019), La cambiale di matrimonio (2021) and The Medium by G.C. Menotti (2022) in the main hall, as well as La serva padrona / Il telefono at the Teatro Sociale (2021).
His activities in 2022 include the debut of La Traviata - winner of the Opera Lombardia international contest - at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, as well as the revival of Il signor Bruschino at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Also, assistance to the directors of I puritani and Ernani at the Opera di Roma and Il matrimonio segreto (directed by Roberto Catalano) and Nabucco at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. In 2023, Luca directed La Traviata for the Rete Lirica delle Marche circuit and two Alvis Hermanis’s productions at the Opera Carlo Felice in Genoa, I due Foscari and Madama Butterfly.
Year 2024 opened in Turin, taking part as assistant director to the new production of “Un ballo in Maschera” with Andrea De Rosa under the baton of M° Riccardo Muti.
