Dr. Wesley Lawrence is an Assistant Professor of Music at Sam Houston State University near Houston, TX, where he teaches applied voice and opera workshop. As a performer Dr. Lawrence has sung both oratorio and opera throughout America and Europe. In the summer of 2018, he sang with VIMA in their productions of Street Scene (Lippo) and La Rondine (Ruggiero). Other highlights include Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohéme in Lucca, Italy, the solos in Dubois' Seven Last Words of Christ in Salzburg, Vienna, and the States, solos in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Asheville Symphony Orchestra in Asheville, NC, and solos in Handel's Messiah with several orchestras including a regular performance with the Erie Philharmonic in Erie, PA. He has also sung Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Giovanni in Daniel Catán's La Hija di Rappaccini, and others. Dr. Lawrence holds Masters and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in vocal performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
