Conductor
Yana Deliradeva is a distinguished Bulgarian choral conductor, widely recognized for her innovative work with children’s choirs and her dedication to music education. She studied choral conducting in both Bulgaria and the United States, earning her master’s degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton under the mentorship of Prof. Joseph Flummerfelt. Upon returning to Bulgaria in 2002, Yana joined the renowned Detska Kitka Choir in Plovdiv as Assistant Conductor. Since 2011, she has served as the choir’s Chief Conductor, leading over 120 singers from more than 30 schools in the city. Under her direction, the choir continues its legacy of artistic excellence while embracing a contemporary and inclusive approach to repertoire and performance. Her vision includes audience development through interdisciplinary collaborations and the promotion of new music. Beyond her choral leadership, Yana Deliradeva is active in academic and pedagogical circles. She is Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv and works as a vocal coach for the Kids’ Academy of the Plovdiv State Opera. A passionate educator, she supports the professional development of young conductors and promotes modern, holistic rehearsal practices. Yana has led conducting workshops in the United States, Sweden, and Bulgaria, and is the recipient of several prestigious awards in recognition of her artistic achievements and contributions to the choral field. She is the winner of the Special Prize for Conducting Mastery at the international choral competition Vox Lucensis (Lucca, Italy), as well as a two-time recipient of the “Prof. Veneta Vicheva” Award for Conducting Mastery (Shumen, Bulgaria). Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral dissertation titled “Implementation of Body Methods in the Rehearsal Process with Children Choirs”, reflecting her commitment to integrating movement and physical awareness into choral pedagogy. Through her work, Yana Deliradeva continues to shape the future of Bulgarian choral music and inspire the next generation of musicians and conductors.
