Yuting Chen

Pianist Yuting Chen, born in 1995 in China is now a doctoral candidate in Piano Performance at The University of South Carolina under the guidance of Dr. Matthew Manwarren.

Ms. Chen received her Master's degree from the Mannes School of Music in New York, studying with the accomplished pianist--Mr. Jerome Rose. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Capital Normal University in Beijing, following Dr. Ying Huang. Ms. Chen has been awarded for President Merit Scholarship, Graduate Assistantship and Fellowship.

She has won a number of prizes in international piano competitions, such as the winner in 2021 MTNA-Steinway young artist Piano competition South Carolina, winner in 2017 Chopin Memorial Hong Kong International Piano Competition, Second place in the 5th KAWAI Asia Piano Competition, winner in 2017 Austria Mozart International Piano Competition, winner in the 2016 New York International Music Competition, winner in the 5th British Royal Music Competition, Third prize in the 19th Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition, First prize in Liszt Award Hong Kong International Piano Competition.

As an active performer, Ms. Chen has been invited to give recitals in many festivals and worked with orchestras, such as University of South Carolina Orchestra Winds, Concert for Contemporary China's Piano Works, Piano Academic Communication at Baoshan University, the 6th Capital Universities' Piano Communication Concert. She has performed as a soloist and given recitals in numerous cities in US and China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
