Collaborative Pianists

Varna International Music Academy (VIMA) is offering a unique summer program for pianists. Applicants are being given the choice of a 2-week, 3-week, or 4-week program offering pianists the opportunity to learn from master opera coaches and chamber instrumental pianists in the beautiful country of Bulgaria. VIMA is performing the following this summer, which will give our collaborative pianist participants many hours of experience:

Liederabend (recitals of German pieces performed by our vocal participants)

Those wanting to join us for an unforgettable summer of music should do the following:

Apply for one of the works/recitals listed above
Rank your choices from the works/recitals listed above (we will try to accommodate your first choice)
Submit a video recording of a musical theater piece, an opera piece, and a solo classical piece

Option 1

JULY 8 – AUGUST 3, 2026 (4 WEEKS)
(ARRIVE ON JULY 7, DEPART ON AUGUST 4)

TUITION AND LODGING PACKAGE: $5560

TUITION: $700 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $2800)
LODGING: $690 PER WEEK (TOTAL LODGING: $2760)
EARLY BIRD: $595 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $2380) BY JANUARY 20, 2026 (PLUS $2760 LODGING)
FINAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE: APRIL 15, 2026

Option 2

JULY 8 – 28, 2026 (3 WEEKS)

TUITION AND LODGING PACKAGE: $4170

TUITION: $700 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $2100)
LODGING: $690 PER WEEK (TOTAL LODGING: $2070)
EARLY BIRD: $595 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $1785) BY JANUARY 20, 2026 (PLUS $2070 LODGING)

Option 3

JULY 8 – 22, 2026 (2 WEEKS)
(ARRIVE ON JULY 7, DEPART ON JULY 21)

TUITION AND LODGING PACKAGE: $2780

TUITION: $700 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $1400)
LODGING: $690 PER WEEK (TOTAL LODGING: $1380)
EARLY BIRD: $595 PER WEEK (TOTAL TUITION: $1190) BY JANUARY 20, 2026 (PLUS $1380 LODGING)
FINAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE: APRIL 15, 2026

What's Included:

Assignment of Così fan tutte, Opera scenes / Broadway selections, and/or a portion of music for the Liederabend recital to rehearse with VIMA participants under the supervision of the master coaches / pianists on VIMA faculty
Total of 6 hours of playing time during the following:

One 60-minute piano lesson per week with a master piano faculty member
Vocal coachings with the master opera / musical theater coaches (These sessions will be coachings with the vocalists for the academy’s repertoire. During these coachings, you will have the opportunity to learn multiple ways: watching, listening, accompanying, and coaching the vocalists yourself.)
Accompany private voice lessons taught by our expert voice faculty

Participation in all masterclasses and sessions (diction classes, vocal masterclasses, staging, etc.)
Lodging in 3 and / or 4-star hotels, with breakfasts provided
Ground transportation (excluding airport transfers)

Optional Add-Ons & Exclusions:

Tips & Gratuities:
An additional $10 per day will be added to your tuition price to cover all tips & gratuities on provided services & personnel.

Single Occupancy:
An additional $490 per week ($70 per day) will be added to your tuition price for single occupancy lodging.

Air Travel:
Participants are responsible for arranging all air travel. Varna International is available to assist participants with making travel arrangements, upon request.

Applicants for the Collaborative Pianists Program must submit the following:

Video recording from within the past 12 months containing:
- A musical theater piece
- An opera piece
- A solo classical piece
